Somebody in your life has quietly stopped believing what you say.
They didn't announce it. They just quit counting on it.
Scripture of the week
2 Corinthians 1:17-20. "For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."
This matters this week because God has never once made a promise He didn't keep, and you carry His name.
This week's Daily Forged: Let Your Word Mean Something
Paul changed his travel plans. Some people in Corinth used that against him and questioned whether he could be trusted.
He didn't brush it off. He explained himself, because his integrity mattered to him.
Then he pointed them to something bigger. God is faithful. His promises hold.
Here's the truth underneath it. Your word matters in the small stuff. The call you said you'd make. The game you said you'd attend. The job you said you'd finish. The promise you made to your wife.
Trust is built in those moments, when you do what you said you would do.
Don't promise everything. But when you give your word, make it mean something.
Ask yourself straight. Is there anyone in your life who has learned not to fully trust what you say? Why?
Podcast recap
This week Joey and Paul sat down with Mick Naples. Author, podcaster, fellow Ohioan, and the son of a stubborn old Italian guy who fixed lawnmowers for a living.
Mick wrote Walking with Grizzlies after losing his dad. On the day his father died, a nurse asked if he wanted to talk to him.
Mick said, "No, I'll talk to him later."
There was no later.
He walks through how sons see their fathers. First you idolize him. Then you demonize him. If you're paying attention, you finally humanize him, a real man with real battles.
And the one lesson his dad taught him about being a father is three words long. Just be there.
If your mom or dad is still living, don't put this one off.
This Week at Home
Your family keeps a list of the things you said you'd do. They just don't read it to you.
Tonight, ask your wife or one of your kids this. "What's something I said I'd do that I still haven't done?"
Don't defend it. Don't explain it. Write it down and put a date on it.
Challenge
Think through the commitments you've made lately. Pick one you've left unfinished.
Finish it today. If you can't, go have the honest conversation about it.
Either one keeps your word. Silence doesn't.
Community update
No big announcement this week. Just an open door.
Keeping your word is a lot easier when other men know what you promised. That's what happens inside Brotherhood Forged every week.
If you've been reading from the outside, come see it for yourself at Bro4ged.com.
A note from Joey
Mick's line has been following me around all week. "I'll talk to him later."
I say some version of that all the time. I'll call him back. I'll get to it this weekend. We'll do it soon.
Every one of those is a promise, even when it doesn't sound like one.
I don't want to be a man with good intentions. I want my yes to hold up when somebody leans on it.
So I'm making my own list this week, and it isn't short.
Every brotherhood starts with one guy forwarding this to another guy. Be that guy.
