Most guys don't lose their week to a big failure.

They lose it to a hundred small distractions they never bothered to cut.

Scripture of the week

1 Peter 1:13. "Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming."

This matters this week because your mind sets the pace for everything else. If your thinking is scattered, your leadership will be too.

This week's Daily Forged: Prepare Your Mind

Peter tells believers to gird up their minds. Picture a man tucking his robe into his belt so he can move without tripping over himself.

That is what a sober mind does. It gets your thinking in order before you act, so you are ready when it counts.

Here is the truth underneath it. Discipline of mind comes before discipline of action. If your thinking is scattered, your decisions will be scattered too. Your leadership will be scattered. Your faith will be scattered.

Preparing your mind is not pre-work. It is the work.

Podcast recap

This week Paul sat down with his wife Amber for one of the most honest conversations we've put out. Title: What Nobody Tells You About Marriage After Having A Baby.

They go straight at it. Postpartum, anxiety, depression, feeling disconnected, and why husbands need to take initiative instead of waiting to be asked.

One line from the episode will stick with you. Amber say’s..“The goal isn't to get back to the couple you were before the baby. It's learning how to grow into the couple you're becoming.”

If you've ever stood on the sidelines waiting for things to "get back to normal," this episode is for you. Stop waiting. Step in.

This Week at Home

A cluttered mind doesn't just cost you at work. It costs you at home.

If you're distracted, you're not really present with your wife, even when you're in the room.

This week, try this. Before you walk in the door, take thirty seconds to clear your head. Then ask her one question. "How can I take care of you?" Not "what do you need from me." Ask, then actually listen.

Challenge

Cut one distraction today that has been keeping your mind cluttered. Phone, noise, whatever it is.

Notice what gets clearer once it's gone. Do it again tomorrow.

Community update

Guys in the community are digging into the Daily Forged this week, and it shows. Conversations keep circling back to ownership. Owning your time instead of letting it get taken from you.

On my end, I've been diving into my nutrition harder than I ever have, really digging into metabolic health. Different season, same principle. You own it or it owns you.

A note from Joey

“I'll be honest, this one convicted me before I ever wrote it.

I've spent years letting my calendar and my cravings run me instead of the other way around. Cutting distractions and cleaning up my nutrition are the same fight. Get your mind clear, then get your body in line.

If you're in that fight too, you're not alone in it.” Joey K.

Every brotherhood starts with one guy forwarding this to another guy. Be that guy.

Running this thing costs real money, and it's guys like you who keep it alive. If this newsletter has hit you the last few weeks, consider tossing a few bucks toward keeping it going. No pressure, just gratitude.
