The culture has a slogan. My body belongs to me.
Sounds like freedom. It's actually a lie.
The idea
Pastor Lamar put it plain Sunday. In covenant, you don't live just for you anymore.
Your body isn't a bargaining chip. It's a covenant gift.
That hit me different than I expected. I've heard "one flesh" my whole life. I never thought about what it means for how I treat my own body, not just hers.
Scripture doesn't tiptoe around this. Flee sexual immorality. Not manage it. Not set boundaries around it. Flee it, like a man running from a burning building.
Here's the phrase that's been sitting with me all week. Mortify instead of gratify. Put it to death instead of feeding it.
And then this gut punch. Some relationships don't need better boundaries. They need a burial. End the relationship that's ending you.
That's not just about affairs. That's about anything in your life you've been managing instead of killing. The habit you keep negotiating with. The scroll you tell yourself you'll stop tomorrow. The conversation you know you shouldn't keep having.
You don't need a better boundary around it. You need to bury it.
A question to sit with
What's one thing you've been trying to manage that God is actually calling you to bury?
Sit with that one before you move on with your day.
This is exactly the kind of thing we push each other on every week inside Brotherhood Forged. Guys who won't let you keep negotiating with what needs to die.
Every brotherhood starts with one guy forwarding this to another guy. Be that guy.
This newsletter runs on more than good intentions. It takes real time and real money to keep it in front of guys who need it. If you've got a little room this week, it helps more than you'd guess.
