Hey Guys, welcome. I am glad you are here.
My name is Joey Koontz, and along with my brother in this Paul Bengel, we started Brotherhood Forged because we were tired of watching good men fight their battles alone. Too many of us learned to smile on Sunday and struggle in silence the other six days. We built this community, this podcast, and now this newsletter, to change that.
Here is what you can expect. Every Thursday, you will get something short and direct from me. Scripture that actually applies to your week, honest reflection, and one practical step forward. No fluff, no guilt trips, just a brother pushing you toward Jesus.
Why We Started This
So much of what we deal with as men flows from forgetting who we really are. We wear the mask so well that even the guys next to us in the pew have no idea what we are carrying. Brotherhood Forged exists to strip that mask off, in a room full of men doing the same thing together.
A Word For Tomorrow
Tomorrow marks 250 years since our nation declared its independence. That is worth pausing on. Men signed their names to a document knowing it could cost them everything, because they believed freedom was worth the risk.
Here is the truth I want you to sit with as you grill out tomorrow. The freedom our founders fought for is real and it matters. But it is not the deepest freedom you have been given.
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1 NIV
You were not just set free from a king. You were set free from sin, from shame, from the exhausting job of trying to earn something Jesus already paid for in full. That is a freedom no government can grant and no enemy can take away.
This Week
Take a minute tomorrow, in between the fireworks and the burgers, to thank God for both freedoms. The one your country gave you, and the one your Savior did.

A Prayer For You
Father, thank You for freedom, the kind our founders fought for and the kind only You could give. Thank You for this brotherhood forming, for every man who will read this and know he is not fighting alone. Build something real here. In Jesus name, amen.
