Sunday's message walked through Samson. Judges 13 through 16.
Here's what stuck with me. Everybody remembers Samson for his hair. That's the detail we teach kids in Sunday school. Strong man, long hair, lost it all when it got cut.
But his hair was never the source of his strength. It was the sign of a promise. Set apart to God from the womb. The power was never in the strands. It was in the Spirit of the Lord resting on him. Samson had the strength to conquer armies but not the vision to control himself. He could see the enemies around him but not the enemy within him. That is a powerful reminder.
That hit me different this year, because I'm less than ten years from retiring from my job.
Here's the thing. God does not recognize the word retirement. It's not in His plan for any of us. My strength was never really about a title, a paycheck, or a career either. It's about who's holding me. When that job ends, I don't stop. I plan on ministering to men in some capacity until my last breath, and I mean that.
Retirement is a finish line the world made up. God never drew one.
Sit with this: If your job title disappeared tomorrow, would you still know exactly what God built you to do?
Guys, this is the kind of digging we do every single week inside Brotherhood Forged. Purpose that outlasts a paycheck.
Every brotherhood starts with one guy forwarding this to another guy. Be that guy. PLEASE!
Stand firm, Joey & Paul
