No crowd. No stage. Just sheep, a slingshot, and a dad who trusted him with small things.
The idea
Everybody remembers the giant. Nobody remembers the field.
But the field is where David became the man who could stand in that valley. He was faithful with the boring stuff before God ever handed him the exciting stuff. He finished what was in front of him at home before he ever picked up a stone for anybody else.
Here's the line that stuck with me. Many men want to be the hero, until they see the sacrifice it actually requires.
We say yes to that. We picture the glory. We don't picture the cost.
And here's where it gets personal. Your first ministry isn't your podcast, your business, your side hustle, or even your church calling. It's your own house. It's your wife. It's your kids. If those are suffering because you're out chasing a bigger platform, you're not being faithful, you're being reckless with what God already put in your hands.
I've had to check myself on this one more than once. I love pouring into men. I love watching this community grow. None of that means a thing if Bobbie feels like a stranger under her own roof, or if my family gets my leftovers while everyone else gets my best.
Do the little things at home like they're the giant things, and the giant things out there will fall a lot easier than you think.
A question to sit with
Where is your ministry, your grind, or your calling costing your family more than it's giving them right now?
Don't rush past that one.
