Every man has a struggle he keeps coming back to.
This week's Daily Forged says the problem might not be the struggle. It might be what you do when the exit sign lights up.
Scripture of the week
1 Corinthians 10:12-13. "Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape."
This matters this week because some of us have quit looking for the way out. We just assume there isn't one.
This week's Daily Forged: The Exit Is Already There
Paul gives two warnings in one breath.
First, don't get cocky. The guy who thinks he's got it handled is usually the next one down.
Second, don't buy the lie that your temptation is special. That nobody gets it. That it's too strong for you.
Both are pride. One says "I'm too strong to fall." The other says "I'm too far gone to stand." Different outfits, same problem.
Here's the good news. Your battle is common. And God built the exit before the temptation ever showed up.
Here's the hard part. Most of the time, the failure isn't that there was no way out. It's that you didn't look for it.
Because part of you didn't want to find it.
So be honest. In the struggle you keep repeating, what has the exit actually looked like? And have you been taking it?
Podcast recap
What if you can't find balance because perfect balance was never possible in the first place?
Paul and his wife Amber get real about their house right now. Two full time jobs. Three kids. Sports almost every night. A baby. Career changes. And Brotherhood Forged still growing.
They share an idea called Family Dials. Stop trying to keep every area of life at a five. Figure out what season you're in, turn some dials up, let others come down, and keep talking about when it's time to change them.
Then they get honest about the dial they've let slip. Their time together.
If your family feels like a blur of work, practice, dinner, and bedtime, and you're wondering when you actually get to enjoy each other, this one's for you.
We dropped several other episodes this week too. Find your favorite on YouTube.
Resource of the Week
This is what I use for most of my Bible study.
Commentaries, original language tools, maps, and cross references, all in one place. It helps you go past just reading a verse to actually understanding it.
If you've been stuck skimming the surface of Scripture, this is a great tool to help you dig.
Challenge
Build your exit plan before you need it.
Pick your most repeated struggle. Then write down exactly what you'll do the moment it shows up. A name to call. A filter to install. A room to leave. A place to go instead.
Put it in your phone today. Tell one man what it is. A plan nobody knows about is easy to ignore.
Community update
Here's what we keep telling the guys this week. You don't need a mask in here.
You don't have to have it all together to show up. You don't have to perform. Bring the real you, the one with the questions and the scars.
That's the guy we want in the room. If you've been waiting to get "cleaned up" before you join, stop waiting.
A note from Joey
God's been teaching me something I didn't want to learn.
The enemy doesn't always tempt you with something ugly. Sometimes he just keeps you busy.
Busy with work. Busy with family. Even busy with ministry. Good things. God things. And somehow the time with Him in His Word and in prayer gets squeezed out.
I've had to get really aware of that. Even when I'm doing God's work, I can't lose sight of God Himself.
So check your calendar this week. Is there room for Him, or just room for things you're doing for Him?
Every brotherhood starts with one guy forwarding this to another guy. Be that guy.
If this newsletter has been a good word for you, and you're in a place to help, a gift keeps it going and keeps these conversations reaching men who need them. Zero pressure. Just thankful you're reading.
