Most men aren’t fine.

They’re just really good at looking like it.

Scripture of the week

Philippians 4:13. “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”

This matters this week because Paul wrote it about surviving hard seasons, not about faking a good one. The strength comes from Christ, not from your performance.

This week’s Daily Forged: Take Off the Mask

Paul looks back at Moses in 2 Corinthians 3. After Moses met with God, his face glowed, and he covered it with a veil.

Paul says in Christ the veil comes off. We look at Him with open faces, and the Spirit changes us into His image a little more every day.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18. “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

Here’s the truth underneath it. God’s goal isn’t to help you build a better mask.

It’s to make you more like Christ.

A lot of us have a rotation. Work face. Church face. Dad face. The “I’ve got it handled” face.

But following Jesus was never about managing an image. It’s about being changed.

You don’t need to look perfect. You need to keep looking at Him.

Ask yourself straight. Where are you most tempted to pretend you have everything together?

Podcast recap

This week Fred Fredrickson sat down to mark seven years of sobriety.

Seven years. One day at a time, stacked on top of each other until they became a testimony.

Fred dropped one of his favorite sayings, and it’s worth writing down. Why do we want validation from a world that killed the only perfect man who ever lived?

That’s the root of most masks. We’re performing for an audience that was never qualified to judge us.

If you’ve ever hidden a struggle behind a “doing great, man,” you need to hear Fred’s story. Nobody gets seven years by pretending. You get there by being honest and letting other men in.

This Week at Home

Your wife and kids can see through the mask faster than anyone.

Tonight, drop it with your wife. Tell her one thing you’ve been carrying that you’ve been acting like isn’t there.

Don’t fix it. Don’t explain it away. Just say it out loud and let her in.

Challenge

Spend fifteen quiet minutes with Jesus in Scripture today.

Don’t read just to finish. Before you start, ask Him one question. “God, what needs to change in me?”

Then write down whatever comes up, even if it stings.

Community update

Fred has stepped up the Health and Wellness section inside the Mighty App, and the guys are taking notice.

If you’ve been watching from the outside, this is your invite. Brotherhood Forged membership is $60 a month. Real community, workouts, accountability, weekly calls, all built on the Word. No masks required.

A note from Joey

I know the “I’ve got it handled” face better than I’d like to admit.

I’ve worn it at work. I’ve worn it at church. I’ve worn it on this very platform.

What’s changed me hasn’t been getting better at hiding. It’s been men who saw through it and loved me anyway.

That’s what I want every guy reading this to have.

Every brotherhood starts with one guy forwarding this to another guy. Be that guy.

If this newsletter has met you where you are, and you’re able to help keep it going, a gift goes straight into reaching more men who are tired of pretending. Never expected. Always appreciated.
