Some of the loudest voices in your life never say a word out loud.

They live in your head. And a lot of them are lying to you.

Scripture of the week

2 Corinthians 10:3-5. “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh… bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

This matters this week because the fight you’re losing might not be out there. It might be between your ears.

This week’s Daily Forged: Take Your Thoughts Captive

Paul talks like a soldier here. Tearing down arguments. Taking prisoners.

But the enemy isn’t a man with a sword. It’s the proud idea that sets itself up against what God says is true.

You know the voices.

I’m worthless. I’ll never change. I deserve this. Nobody will know. God can’t forgive me.

Here’s the truth. Not every thought deserves your agreement.

A thought can show up without becoming your master. You don’t control every thought that walks in. You do decide which ones get to stay.

So put it on trial. Is this true? Does it line up with God’s Word?

If not, stop feeding it.

Ask yourself straight. What lie keeps showing up in your head, and how long have you been letting it stay?

Podcast recap

This week Paul, Fred, and Joey dig through some of the worst marriage advice the internet has to offer. Some of it is funny. Some of it is dangerous.

The scary part? A lot of it comes with a Bible verse attached. Influencers pulling one verse out of context to excuse anger and bad behavior. That’s not theology. That’s a wolf with a good camera.

Then they get practical. Rip and repair, how to come out of a disagreement closer instead of colder. Why marriage was never meant to be 50/50. And why your wife is not the enemy, even when it feels like it.

One line worth writing down. Your love language probably isn’t hers. Not sure what she needs? Ask her.

Resource of the Week

Josh is a pastor first, and it shows. He takes Scripture seriously and doesn’t dodge the hard cultural questions guys are actually wrestling with.

If you want something in your ears on the drive that sharpens you instead of numbing you, start here.

Challenge

Write the lie down. The one that keeps coming back.

Then find a verse that answers it. Put it in your phone.

When the lie shows up today, and it will, answer it out loud with truth.

A note from Joey

I’ve been living in the book of James lately, chapter by chapter.

And I’ll be honest. Chapter 3 put a mirror in front of me I didn’t want to look into.

James says the tongue is a small fire that can burn down a whole forest. I’ve lit a few of those fires. With my wife. With people I love. Words I couldn’t take back.

Here’s what this week’s Daily Forged showed me. Most of those words started as thoughts I never challenged.

Taming my tongue starts upstream. If I let the thought stay, it’s only a matter of time before it comes out of my mouth.

I’m not there yet. But I’m paying attention now.

Every brotherhood starts with one guy forwarding this to another guy. Be that guy.

Every week this lands in your inbox because men like you decided it was worth keeping around. If you’re in a spot to help this week, it keeps these words reaching the guys still fighting the lies in their heads. If not, you’re still family here.
