You can be busy, gifted, and on fire for God.

And still be building nothing but your own highlight reel.

Scripture of the week

1 Corinthians 14:12. "Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church."

This matters this week because a lot of us are measuring our gifts by how they look, not by who they help.

This week's Daily Forged: Don't Just Perform

The Corinthians were in a contest. Whose gift was more impressive. Who looked more spiritual.

Paul shut it down. The question was never how impressive your gift looks. It's whether it builds somebody up.

That hits men in leadership hard. You can be zealous. Active. Talented. And still be chasing how it looks instead of what it builds in the people around you.

Before your next project, plan, or post, ask Paul's question. Does this edify, or does it just perform?

Ask yourself straight. Where have you chased being impressive over being useful?

Podcast recap

The lone wolf thing feels like strength. It's actually the loneliest place a man can live.

This week we get into why "I'll handle it myself" is often pride and shame wearing a tough guy costume. It doesn't make you a leader. It makes you isolated.

Then comes the 3AM test. When everything falls apart in the middle of the night, who do you actually call? If you had to think about it, this episode is for you.

Iron sharpens iron. That takes friction, and friction takes letting other men close enough to see the real you.

Resource of the Week

Two new places to get more of this every day.

Joey shares daily biblical lessons and encouragement at youtube.com/@resilientdisciple.

Paul just launched his own channel at youtube.com/@p.bengel3.

Same mission, more doors for guys to walk through. Subscribe to both.

Challenge

Replace one thing you do to look good with one thing that builds up a specific man.

Pick the man first. Then pick the action. Do it before Sunday.

Community update

Inside the community, we've started practicing daily gratitude together. Fred Fredrickson kicked it off, and it's changing the conversation. Guys are naming what they have instead of only what they're missing.

Welcome to our newest brothers, Juan C. and Alex M. Glad you're in the room.

And happy birthday to David H. He's fought through health issues and multiple surgeries this year. Pray for a speedy recovery, and send him some love today.

A note from Joey

I've been learning something simple that's harder than it sounds. Be grateful.

Not grateful once things line up. Grateful right now.

When we started naming what we're thankful for every day as a group, something shifted in me. It's hard to perform for people when you're busy thanking God for them.

Gratitude kills the need to impress. Try it this week.

Every brotherhood starts with one guy forwarding this to another guy. Be that guy.

Gratitude goes both ways. Every man who reads, shares, or gives is part of why this keeps going. If you're in a spot to help this week, it keeps these words reaching men who need them. If not, we're just thankful you're here.
