Man, this week's theme won't let you off easy.
Scripture of the Week
James 4:6 - "God opposes the proud but shows grace to the humble."
No middle ground here. Two postures, two outcomes. Which one are you standing in today?
Grace to the Humble
James is quoting Proverbs, and he's not softening it. God opposes the proud. Period. He gives grace to the humble. Period. There's no third lane.
Pride isn't just arrogance. It's self-sufficiency. It's the guy who's stopped needing God because he's built enough infrastructure of his own. He doesn't pray because he's handling it. He doesn't submit because he already knows better.
Here's the part that should stop you cold. Grace isn't just forgiveness. It's God's active empowerment, His strength and wisdom moving through you. When you're proud, you cut yourself off from the one resource that would actually make you effective.
Humility isn't beating yourself up. It's accurate self-assessment. Knowing what you carry, knowing what you don't, and staying in right relationship with God. That posture is what opens the pipeline.
Where has pride been blocking grace in your marriage, your leadership, your walk with God? Be honest about where you've stopped needing Him.
This Week's Podcast
Paul and I got into it this week: "Why Most Men Fail The Mirror Test Based on James 1."
Most guys read the Word, feel something for five minutes, then walk away and live like they never opened the book. James calls that self-deception. We break down why it happens to good men, not just lazy ones, and what actually breaks the cycle.
If you've ever felt convicted on Sunday and back to normal by Tuesday, this one's for you.

This Week at Home
Pride doesn't just show up in your leadership. It shows up at your kitchen table.
Do one act of service for your wife this week that she never finds out about. No mention, no credit, no "hey, I did this for you." Let it be between you and God.
Notice what it costs your ego. Notice what it feeds in your spirit. That's the same muscle James is talking about.
The Forge Check
Every piece of steel is shaped by what stays, what gets removed, and what gets added. Same is true for us as men.
Answer these three before next week. Share with someone that can hold you accountable. We are doing this in the Brotherhood Forged Community. Join us men.
Keep Forging. What's one habit, mindset, or discipline that's helping you become the man God's calling you to be? Keep doing it.
Stop Carrying. What's one habit, excuse, distraction, fear, or sin that's holding you back? Time to put it down.
Start Building. What's one intentional action you'll commit to before we meet again?
Accountability. How can this brotherhood pray for you, encourage you, and hold you to it before we meet again?
Community Update
Our monthly workout is coming up, and it's more than sweat. Men showing up for each other in person, pushing each other physically the same way we push each other spiritually.
If you're a member, watch for the details. If you're not yet, this is what you're missing.
A Personal Note from Joey
Yesterday was my birthday. Fifty seven years old.
I'm grateful for another day of life. Grateful God keeps using me in spite of my flaws. Every year I get is one more chance to get this right, for my family, for this brotherhood, for the men reading this right now.
Pride would tell me I've earned these years. Grace reminds me they were never mine to earn in the first place. It’s ALL because of my Savior!
